Eating at restaurants is embedded in most social circles. And if you decide not to eat out your social life is likely to suffer.

The bad news here is that if you are not careful you can gain weight very quickly by eating out with a high frequency.

Thus, here are 6 tips for eating out when you are trying to lose weight:

1. Avoid fast food: Fast food has too many trans fats. And even if you can’t find trans fats in the nutrition facts, many times they will be hidden in the sauces used to cook the foods. So for best results here just avoid the headache of fast food.

2. Have some roughage first: By eating lots of vegetables before your main course arrives you will prevent your body from eating out of pure hunger. You see, vegetables mechanically slow down the digestion of food and they mechanically make you feel full.

3. Avoid deep fried food items for the best results: Something that is deep fried will not only have a lot of calories, but it can be very unhealthy for you. You see, whenever an oil or fat is exposed to extremely high temperatures it can become rancid.

4. Avoid the bread basket: Now this may seem simplistic, but too many people fall prey to the tempting bread. Avoid the temptation by asking the waiter to not bring out the bread basket. Fat too often do clients tell me how they ate an entire basket of bread before starting on their main course.

5. Don’t eat everything on your plate: You see, in some cases, a restaurant meal can have an entire day’s worth of calories. And one strategy to avoid falling victim here is to simply take half of what’s on your plate home with you.

6. Load up on water: Water will help you get rid of all the excess salt that’s in your meal. And this salt can make you gain a lot of water weight and can make you very bloated. So give your body some help here by drinking lots of water.

Eating out doesn’t have to be a fat loss death sentence. Just make sure you make smart choices here and you will be fine!
