The lemonade diet is a lot like the recently tooted juice diet, except instead of juice it is lemonade that the user sustains on. The diet consists of only liquids and there are specific instructions for the preparation of the drink, which consists of a combination of fresh squeezed lemons, non fluoridated water, maple syrup and cayenne pepper. This concoction is drunk each morning. The only other things that are allowed on this diet is a diuretic tea and non fluoridated water.
The idea is that the body will cleanse itself over a period of days and flush all the fat and toxic substances sitting in the colon. The goal of this diet is to rest the digestive tract and to cleanse it.
Well it sounds a bit too good to be true. Is there a catch? Yes. It works because the user is only consume liquid calories. The weight loss is more likely from the absence of food than by the diet itself.
Some people say that this diet has greatly improved their health and helped them to lose weight, but the matter of the fact is when you do diets like this, you are risking some serious long-term effects for short-term weight loss. Once you stop starving yourself, you will gain pounds like you never have before, because your body will be in famine mode.
There are a few side effects. Headaches (probably from hunger) some stomach upset ( again hunger) dizziness and that is about it.
There are no long-term effects if this diet is short. If you stay on the diet for too long, you can suffer serious problems from malnutrition. The human body was not meant to be sustained off of lemons, water, and maple syrup.
Is the diet of lemonade safe or unsafe? That’s up to your doctor to figure out.
