Sunday, October 10th, 2010

Juicers are household items that can prepare juices through mechanical means of extraction and separation of the liquids and the solid of fruits, vegetables, and herbs that we consume everyday. Juicers can either be manual or electrically operated machines.

The importance of juicers lies in that, juice offers many health benefits due to the presence of natural enzymes, energy, and vitamins vital for our immune system. Among others, intake of fruit juices are known to be effective in controlling the effects of free radicals and dead cell on our skin and thus keeping our skin healthy and youthful. Since the nutrient contents in juices can be easily absorbed into our body system, it plays effective role in digesting the other solid food that we consume.

As a health conscious individual, you probably might be looking for a juicer for your family. If that’s the case, there are some aspects to be considered for reliability and long service. Each machine type has their own performance potential, and there are several types suitable for different lifestyles, budgets, and the setting where it’s to be used. Some are easier to handle but some tends to be messy and require more effort and time to clean up. However, one thing is for sure that you need a juicer that’s efficient for preparing juice without wastage.

Juicers are divided into three main categories such as centrifugal juicer, masticating juicer, and the twin geared juicer, also known as triturating juicers.

The most common types among the three categories are the centrifugal and the masticating juicers. And these two are the ones that are mostly sold items in many department stores.

Twin geared triturating juicers are the most efficient type of juicer available. And they are suitable for juicing larger amount of juice from fruits, wheatgrass, pine needles, vegetables and other natural herbs.

Another one is the triturating juicer or the twin gear juicer, which is the most expensive among all the three types. As compared to the other two, this juicer is slow. But being slow also ensures that the quality of the juice is always of high grade. By crushing the fruit items in between two gears, then pressing the pulp through stainless steel, the juice is extracted. And it allows the juicer to preserve the important fiber, enzymes, vitamins and other essential minerals.

There are literally hundreds of models available in the market; and depending on your budget, family needs, you can select the juicer of your choice for your healthy living needs.

Mike Walker has tested and researched many juicers to find the best juicer to suit his healthy lifestyle. He shares his information in his juicer review blog where he writes reviews and guides on all types of juicers.

Do You Use A Juicer For Your Health

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010

The juicer is found in many kitchens today. The product is advertised as a great way to prepare healthy drinks. It is true that the juicer can create healthy drinks; the reality of course is that the juicer has to be used by the person who wants the healthy drink.

But the device is easy to use and there are many drink combinations that can be prepared. For instance a tasty drink of carrot, celery, and apple, can be prepared in a few minutes.

But there has to be some preparation of the ingredients before they can be put through the juice machine. The carrot has to be peeled so that the dirt and residue does not get into the drink. The celery too has to be cleaned. The apple has to be cut in half or quarters depending on the size of the juicing slot. Some machines have slots large enough that an apple can fit through without having to be cut into pieces.

The food is then, one by one, run through the juicer and out comes the juice. The drink should be consumed right away because the nutrients can dissipate quickly, and because this is an all natural product, it can oxidize in a hurry. As you know if you cut open an apple and leave it in the open, it will soon turn brown.

This combination of fruit and vegetables, carrots, apple, and celery, is a tasty combination. There are many tasty drinks that can be prepared with this device. But it takes time and effort. The machine has to be cleaned after each use and the food has to be prepared to go into the slot.

The difference between machines will be in the amount of pulp that is left. The more efficient machines leave less pulp than machines that do not extract as much juice from fruits and vegetables. It would be a waste to throw away the pulp; it would simply be throwing away food.

Some people collect the pulp and store in the freezer and use it in soup stock or in dessert recipes. Actually the uses for pulp is endless, limited only to the imagination of a particular cook.

After the machine is washed and cleaned, by the way, most parts are dishwasher safe, and the food preparation area is cleaned, the process of juicing is done, until the next time one wants to drink a glass of healthy fruit or vegetable juice. The process is time consuming. But good health does not just happen.

There are many fruit and vegetable drinks in a can or bottle that are sold in the market. These products are promoted as healthy alternatives to soft drinks. And perhaps compared to soda, these fruit or vegetable drinks in a can are relatively healthy.

But the store bought canned drinks are loaded with sodium and man made chemicals for shelf life preservation. There is no comparison between a canned drink and one that can be prepared by juicing at home. The store bought product is convenient, but the person who wants health should use the juicing device at home. It require an investment of time and trouble, but is worth it in the long run.

Mike Walker keeps a best juicer blog in which he writes and reviews about the best juicers he uses. He writes many types of juicer reviews such as citrus juicer reviews, centrifugal juicer reviews, wheatgrass juicer reviews and many more.

Getting To Know About Juicer

Tuesday, July 6th, 2010

After a good session of juicing your favourite fruits or vegetable and no matter how cautious you were with the preparations, you cannot avoid from causing a mess. It is always nice to be spend some time to clean up all that mess and also the juicer itself after the session. As a health conscious person, just look at the cleaning up as another way of giving your body that much needed exercise.

Back in the old days, people get the juice only from fruits such as oranges, lemons, and other citrus family. They get those juices by eating the whole fruits in their solid form. However, as people began to explore their knowledge in science and technology, they learned that the nutrients from those fruits can be absorbed by their body more easily if they know how to purify the juices. Hence, the juicer is invented.

First, before you start juicing, why not line the area where you will be juicing with old newspapers? The newspapers will collect all tiny spatters from the juicers during your juicing process. After you are done juicing, just roll up the whole newspapers and throw them in the rubbish bin. No need to clean the area. All you need to do is to clean your machine. We will talk about that later.

It is a good practice to check your juicer’s blade before juicing, too. Make sure that it is working well and the blade is sharp and sturdy. Blunt blade makes it harder to chop and crush all those fruits, resulting in coarser and less juice to be produced. Not only that, a lot of the fruit is also wasted since the juicer did not fully extract the pulp.To clean your juicer, first unplug the body from the powerpoint. This is to avoid any accidental electrocution.

If you do not want to spend such a long time in disassembling and assembling the parts for each cleaning, then when you are choosing the juicer, buy the one with the least parts. It will save your cleaning time tremendously. If you do not mind, then head for any model that you think fits your personality and necessity.

Then, use warm water and a soft cloth to wipe away all the dirt on the inside wall of your blender. If you need to soak the metal parts, soak them in warm water too. Warm water has less oxygen in it and reduce the possibility of exposing your juicer’s metal parts to corrosion and rusting later.

Many people buy a twin gear machine and then complained on the long time that is needed to yield juices and also the amount of time spent to clean those juicers. However, it is very vital for people with cancer or chronic diseases to get the highest quality of juices that can only be achieved by using those juicers.

This does not only symbolizes a modern living, but also a more healthy and happy living. Kids love juices and enjoy those in the form of juices. As they grow up, those children will love fruits and in fact, parents can teach their children to love fruits and vegetables by making them used to the vegetables without the parents pushing their children to eat those.

Juicing can cover your weight loss and fat burning goals in a number of ways including reducing cravings, jump starting your metabolism, saturating your cells with bio-available aliment, supporting your body’s fat burning processes, flushing toxins stored in your fat cells, and reducing acidity in your body.

Often times the cause of your cravings for sweets and “super-sized” portions is because your body is starving for the nutrients that are supposed to be in your food in the first place. Unfortunately because so much of our modern diet is void of the nutrients our bodies desperately need, our cravings increase as our body attempts to fill this nutrient void. It has been reported that even healthy vegetables when cooked lose from 30 to 85% of the nutrition present in the food when raw. Most cooked and refined “Fast” foods are nearly completely void of heat sensitive enzymes. Enzymes are the catalyst for the hundreds of thousands of chemical reactions that take place throughout the body some of which aid in processing of fats and carbohydrates.

Fresh juice is full of vitamins, minerals, trace elements, natural sugars, proteins, and live enzymes which are almost instantly bio-available to your body. Adding fresh juice to your diet will do wonders to keep your cravings in check and cells well nourished. Eventually you will be eating less. When your body has the essential nutrition it needs it will also begin to function better.

Juicing also aids in lowering the acidity in your body Unfortunately, because people today predominantly eat a diet high in processed acid-forming foods, we are weakened from chronic acidity. Too much acidity also can cause us to gain weight or prevent us from losing weight. Juicing for weight loss can be that magic addition to your diet plan that can not only help with weight, but also your health.

To make things worst, the body tends to store acid in fat cells and hangs on to the fat to keep the acidity from doing damage to your organs and other parts of the body . Basically fat acts like a sponge as a defense mechanism . The more acidity you consume the more fat the body has to store up for that defense.

Most fruit and vegetable juices counteract acidity because of their highly alkalizing effects. Vegetables, leafy greens and grasses in particular are among the most alkalizing foods you can eat and thus juice. Often, when people bring their bodies into a sound pH balance state, the weight seems to just melt away .

Because the body uses fat to hold toxins we often find it hard to lose weight. When we remove acidulent and toxic waste from our body’s cells, our bodies not longer need this extra protection, so we can begin to lose the extra fat. Juices are rich in antioxidants and other elements that bind to toxins and carry them out of your system. Because vegetable juices are alkalizing, they help the body flush away acidic, toxic waste and enable it to reach a better pH balance so it can help get rid of excess weight and cellulite.
