Article 19: My Prescription HCG Diet Is Still Moving…

Wednesday, December 1st, 2010

Okay! Today is Day Seven! I’m still going on my prescription HCG weight loss program (that is if you are including the loading days at the very start of the program). I think I’m doing pretty good.

I have dropped a total of six lbs since the program started. So that is pretty dang close to the promised one to two lbs per day average that the company advertises.

I got up this morning and weighed myself first thing. I found out I had gone down again. Yesterday I went up by just one single pound. (Dang it!) Today I’m weighing in at 162 pounds. So that’s lovely. I went up one pound yesterday, but today I’m down two pounds. So it’s almost like I didn’t go up yesterday at all. Right?

And after today’s 1 pound weight loss…I’m at the one pound per day average that I wanted to hit.

I injected my HCG and took my B-Total oral drops that came with my HCG weight loss program immediately after I stepped off the scale. (It’s under my bed now because my daughter noticed me weighing myself every day and started to mimic me and worry about her numbers. I didn’t like that so I took the scale out of the bathroom).

I an not at all sure that my reaction was practical, but it just seemed like she really didn’t need to stress about it; especially because she’s an adorable, skinny little girl.

Regardless of the why…the scale is now residing under my bed. And I like that the scale is under the bed; it’s handy!

I can easily whip it out right away each morning and get my daily weight. I haven’t forgotten to weigh myself in the morning yet. And I’m kind of proud of myself for that because that’s the sort of thing that I always forget!

I made the Turkey burgers recipe from the cookbook. It’s pretty much just ground turkey and green onions mixed together with some seasonings before you cook/grill them. Then you skip the bread/bun and use lettuce instead. It was great.

With the turkey burger I had half a grapefruit. I have Stevia to use for sweetener, but it happened to be sweet enough on its own. I like to get the pink ones so I don’t always need to add something to make it sweet enough to eat. I definitely have a sweet tooth.

That night I had leftovers for dinner. I finished off the chili from the other day (with crackers and apples on the side). It was still really tasty. And it was simple. My kids liked it, too. They can be kind of picky about trying new things so that was extra exciting. I guess they couldn’t tell the difference between regular Chili and HCG approved Chili. I didn’t expect them to…it’s really very good.

Article 21: Day 9 on the Prescription HCG Diet

Tuesday, November 30th, 2010

Alright…so think back. Do you remember how I was telling you the other day that I was impressed that even though I’m known for having a “daily routine” I hadn’t yet forgotten to weigh myself in the morning as required during prescription HCG therapy for weight loss? Well it’s finally happened. Today I totally forgot to weigh myself.

I’ve got no idea why; I think I just got too comfortable and forgot that I had to consciously remember to do the things that are making the diet work.

So I’ve got no weight change to report.
It’s Thursday. The weekend is coming up and I’ve got a few functions to attend in the near future that I’m a little stressed about.

I’m hoping that there will be something available to eat at the upcoming gatherings that is at least a little bit approved for eating during my HCG therapy. But I’ll just have to wait and see.

I dropped the kids off at schoo and then I took my HCG injection and my B-Total. After that…I flipped through the cookbook to pick a few new recipes to try. I wanted to get the ingredients while I was out.

After I got the kids off to school, I took my HCG injection and my B-Total and then picked up the cookbook to flip through it and pick a few new recipes to try. That way I could get the ingredients while I was out at the store.

I decided to get stuff so I could try Chicken Asparagus Soup, Turkey Tomato Soup and Orange Cremesicle. And on top of that I knew I was low on fruits and vegetables so I visited the produce section for those items as well.

I decided that going to Walmart for produce is just a last resort if the “normal” grocery store is closed. Their fresh produce is WAY better. And it lasts longer in my fridge so that I don’t have to go to the store as frequently. The Walmart options are a little bit cheaper in most cases, but it’s worth it if the fruit stays good for a few days longer.

Plus Walmart doesn’t have the Melba Toast Spicy 3 Pepper variety. So that’s enough reason right there for me to stick to my local grocer. I guess you never know what’s going to be important. I should probably leave a “suggestion” in the Walmart suggestion box. Maybe the buyer would add it to the next order just for me, but I doubt it!

I ended up making Turkey and Tomato soup for lunch. It didn’t sound good when I was reading the recipe, but I really liked how it turned out. I put in a little bit of fresh herbs since I had them in the garden, but other than that I followed the recipe to the tee.

I had Melba toast with my soup (original flavor is great for dipping). And I saved my snack for mid-afternoon. It ended up being an apple.

I cooked up some Filet Mignon for dinner. The bacon was pulled off before I put it on the grill. I actually cooked the bacon up and gave it to my kids; they LOVE bacon. But then…doesn’t everyone? It was good to have some beef. I haven’t had it in a while. I was really craving it and I didn’t even know. With the Filet Mignon I had steamed cabbage. Luckily, it’s one of my favorites. I just seasoned it with salt and pepper.

I was going to have the Orange Cremesicle for an after dinner treat until I realized that I don’t have a blender right now. I broke it a few months ago and it hadn’t occurred to me to buy a new one. So that was out. I had half a grapefruit instead.

Article Eighteen: It’s Day Four On My Prescription HCG Low Calorie Diet

Have you ever heard of a google alert? Well I’m a little bit addicted to them. You sign up to be “alerted” by email whenever certain words or phrases pop up in online content. It can be very handy. In the midst of my research of Prescription HCG Diet Direct I set up a google alert for the company. And today something interesting came through.

Right now they are ranked #1 in the program and weight loss category at Ranking.com. And they have a current score of 10 out of 10 at TrustGauge.com. And that’s a top score indicating trustworthy business practices.

What did I do with this information? Well, of course, I called Lisa so that I could taunt her husband (who had tried to refuse to let her do the diet) with the sheer validity and trustworthiness of the program we chose to work with. It was just too easy to say “I told you so.” I couldn’t NOT do it.

I’m on Day 4 of the VLCD portion of the prescription HCG diet. And that means that I’m on Day 6 of the diet since I had to first complete 2 loading days. The loading days were the days at the beginning of the diet when I had to eat a lot of high calorie, fatty foods while starting the daily injections of HCG.

The loading days are meant to give the body time to absorb the HCG into the system in preparation for the very low calorie program phase. Day Six had me getting up and getting on the scale first thing like I am supposed to. And, dang it! I went up to 164. It’s only fair since I was never really, officially punished for my “mishap” on Saturday involving the Panda Express and Chick-Fil-A.

As a solution to the problem of having no willpower whatsoever when faced with available Mall Food Court food…I’ve sworn to myself that I would not set foot in another mall while on this diet. The temptations it represents are just too great for such as me, apparently.

I gave myself my prescription HCG injection and followed that by drinking a few glasses of water before lunch. When I made turkey chili I made extra so I had a few individual serving size phases of the HCG approved food in the fridge and I pulled one out for lunch. I warmed it up and then pulled out my trusty Spicy 3 Pepper Melba Toasts to use for dipping.

I had a cut up apple with lemon juice. I read about this trick online and I really like it. My son really likes it, too, actually. You just drizzle a little bit of lemon juice across the top of your cut apples and it adds a little zing that makes it more fun to eat.

I am trying extra hard to focus on drinking plenty of water today. I want to see more weight loss tomorrow. I went out and purchased a few “large” plastic cups so that I could cart around large amounts of water with me all over the house.

For dinner I made another recipe from the book I bought from Prescription HCG Diet Direct. It was Rosemary and Chicken. Although I skipped the marinating step which turned out to be pretty vital so while dinner was fine I’m going to have to try that recipe again to see if it’s way better.

I had a new kind of tea. It was called Red Zinger. It was okay. So far I’m not attached to any of the herbal tea flavors I’ve tried. My mom LOVES them, but I can’t seem to get myself into the mode of drinking herbal tea for pleasure. But I’m going to keep trying. I’ll pick up another flavor/brand and see how it goes.

Article 20: Day 8 on my Prescription HCG Diet

Saturday, November 27th, 2010

I got up and got on the scale this morning again. And I didn’t lose any weight. Bummer, right? But I didn’t gain any weight either. So that’s something. I just stayed exactly the same at 162 pounds.

I think I need to drink more water. I tend to go in spurts. I’ll drink a ton at once, but then I’ll go hours without any at all. My new plan is to drink an entire glass and then keep a full glass beside me so I’ll keep drinking more. I’ll let you know how it goes.

For lunch I had a leftover Turkey burger that I made the other day according to the HCG Diet Direct Recipe Guide. I was reading a few HCG weight loss reviews and discovered that a lot of other dieters really like several of the recipes in the recipe guide so I guess I shouldn’t be so surprised that they are good.

With my turkey burger I had an orange for my fruit serving (and by the way…I think I’m done messing around with oranges…too many seeds) and some Melba crackers. I tried the Sesame flavor. They were fine, but they really made me miss my Spicy 3 Pepper variety. They were so much better. But I’m out.

When I restocked all my HCG foods at Walmart…they didn’t have the Spicy 3 Pepper variety. I need to go back to the grocery store that I originally found them at and see if I can find some more.

How odd is it that the Melba Toasts aren’t even with the crackers in the cracker section a lot of the time? I haven’t tried the crunchy breadsticks that I heard mentioned in some of the HCG weight loss reviews, but I mean to look for them next time. (They are also oddly placed apparently. I heard they were usually in the Italian food aisle with the spaghetti sauce and pasta).

I had grilled chicken for dinner with Creole seasoning. It was a classic. I really like that the kids go along with it, too. The kids had steamed broccoli, but since I’m not supposed to have that I had a romaine salad with mine.

I stayed up after the kids went to bed to watch a movie (Harry Potter seemed like a good idea since the new movie is coming out on DVD Tuesday) and made the Mock Apple Cobbler from the recipe book. I can’t even tell you how amazing it smells.

But I’m going to try to tell you anyway…it smells absolutely delicious. If I’m being honest I’ll have to admit that it smells more delicious than it tastes, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t taste really good. It just means that it smells ridiculously and insanely wonderful. I need a candle with that smell. It would be fantastic.

Overall…today was a good one. I did well. I’m following the rules. Granted…I’ve been staying home, but I don’t think I’m the only one who has a hard time sticking to the rules in a social or public or work setting. That’s noted in a bunch of the online diet reviews as a tough transition. So I think I’m doing great!

Article Sixteen: Day Two on My Prescription HCG Very Low Calorie Diet

Saturday, November 27th, 2010

I went shopping again last night to get ready for day 2 on the very low calorie diet (VLCD). It’s always more effective to go to the grocery store in the late night in comparison to mid-day. I think throughout the course of this diet that I’m going to need to go to the grocery store a lot more often than normal. But I can do that.

I really like the fact that I’m going to be cooking healthy meals. Dinner last night was totally healthy and really tasty and I cooked it myself. And I have to say that I’m impressed with myself a little bit.

This morning I got right out of bed (alright…I dragged myself out slowly and grumpily) and headed to the scale. I weighed in at 165.2 pounds. Wow! 6 pounds down. Wahoo! I’m ecstatic. that would be awesome as a daily loss, but even as a one time thing it’s utterly amazing!

But I am figuring that this is one of those times during which I will drop several lbs at the same time and then have a couple days on a plateau. It was described as part of the typical effects for some dieters. Apparently the big drops and plateaus still even out to equal the average of 1 to Two lbs weight loss per day. And that’s something that I can totally support.

So today is Saturday. I was just too busy dieting. Nothing seemed important enough to warrant the major distraction of shopping.

But I did realize just this morning that I forgot one thing that I really needed to buy on sale. So I got ready to have a day away from home. I took my injection and my B-Total in the morning and then did the stuff around the house to get ready to go. We were going to leave after lunch.

I had leftovers from last night for lunch: Shake and Bake Tilapia. I really liked that recipe that we pulled from the HCG Diet Direct Recipe Guide. With the fish I had a sliced tomato with pepper and an apple (that I tossed in my purse for an on the go snack).

My kids had already requested “Kids’ Meals” since they knew we were headed out so I promised them we’d stop on the way. I was feeling pretty good about it all.

After we hit a few stores the kids decided they wanted to eat so we headed to the mall’s food court.

Long story short…I did not do well at the Mall’s food court. There’s nothing HCG approved. And the Chick-Fil-A my daughter ordered was so tempting and when turning away from that…the Panda Express my son ordered was just as tempting. I finally broke. I had a few bites of both kinds of chicken.

So it’s only the second day and I’ve already broken the prescription HCG diet protocol. shoot! But I did get right back on track. I came home and had a romaine salad and slapped myself on the wrist and promised myself the punishment would be worse the next time I fell off the wagon. Hopefully I’ll be more well behaved tomorrow.
