How To Realize The Full Benefits Of Cardio Training Using A Heart Rate Monitor

Sunday, October 10th, 2010

When it comes to enjoying the full benefits of cardio training using a heart rate monitor, there are a few extra steps that should be taken in addition to your normal regimented workouts. What you do in between the periods of physical exertion will best determine the physical results that you get. A clear emphasis placed upon diet and water intake will help you realize your health goals most quickly.

You will use your heart rate monitor to make certain that you do not over-exert yourself. It is also handy for letting you know when you need to kick the energy up a notch. The first thing that you should do when implementing this new tool is to download a chart that shows the recommended heart rates for your body level at each mode of exercise. Once you have the chart you can gauge your progress as time passes. The next thing to do is to focus on the effort that you make towards better health that go beyond physical activity.

You should really start tailoring your diet to make certain that you get all of the necessary nutrients for an active lifestyle. Lean protein should be a favorite as you will need plenty of this in order to build strong muscle. Rather than cutting out all of your favorites, enjoy your normal treats within moderation but be sure to get a good amount of high-fiber options such as fruits and vegetables. The fresher the better. The more that you continue to eat well, the less you will find yourself reaching for high-sugar, high-fat options that wind up being empty calories.

As you begin to increase your workouts it is imperative that you are making certain to remain properly hydrated. Your hydration levels and your heart rate are related. When you are severely dehydrated your heart rate will increase, and you should never allow yourself to make it to this point. Rather than waiting until you experience the first sign of dehydration; thirst, make certain to keep a bottle of water handy at all times.

There are additional benefits to consuming the right amount of water as you increase your work outs. Lactic acid can build up in your muscles when you have exerted yourself to the max and water helps flush this out of your system. Lactic acid is largely responsible for the soreness that you experience after a really intense workout, so the more water that you get down, the better that you will feel the morning after. Plus, being properly hydrated means that you will retain less water, which in turn means that you can visually enjoy your new figure sooner.

In order to realize the entire benefits of cardio training using a heart rate monitor you will have to apply a little diligence. Rather than denying yourself the foods that you love, continue to consume them along side healthy additions that will rapidly become your mainstay. Eating better, drinking more water and being sure to consumer all of the nutrients that are vital to good health will help you take your workout efforts on to the next level.

Compact Treadmills - The Secret To Losing Weight In Your Spare Time

Wednesday, September 22nd, 2010

Compact treadmills are a perfect choice for anyone that wants to get fit and take control of their health. You can walk, run, or jog to stay in shape, and these can all be done effectively on compact treadmills.

There are many kinds of exercise equipment available to make home workouts effective and convenient. While a dedicated room or exercise area is ideal, few people have this amount of extra space available in their home.

Specialized machines like elliptical trainers, stair steppers and weight machines are designed for specific training goals. This equipment is best used within a comprehensive exercise program, and not used alone as the only source of fitness training. One large drawback is that they all need a vast area to setup and use, and moving them in and out of storage is just too much trouble.

Compact treadmills are specifically designed to solve these storage problems. They are a good solution for anyone that understands the need to exercise regularly and wants to workout at home. Major companies like Bowflex, Proform, and Sole first started to build space-saving compact treadmills for home use. Now, many other companies have followed their lead and folding compact treadmills are available in all price ranges. With their popularity and continued development, most of the storage and portability problems of the past have largely disappeared.

A compact treadmill is easy to fold up so it stays out of the way until it is used. The small footprint of these machines makes them perfect for use in a bedroom or anywhere you have a few square feet of space available. While the running decks average 50″ to 60″ long, they require very little room because they fold-up vertically between the hand grips so they need very little space.

Compact treadmills have succeeded at solving the storage problem, but you should not plan to move them from room to room very often. The small wheels that come on most units make it possible to move them around, but because they are heavy, you may need some help to move and reposition them. If possible, place it in a corner or somewhere that is out of the way so it will not be necessary to constantly move it.

These treadmills offer many of the same features and components as their commercial quality counterparts, yet they are so popular today that many manufacturers sell their compact treadmills for the same price or even a bit less than their stationary models.

No matter if you are a total beginner or an expert, you can adjust your treadmill to provide the exercise intensity you need to meet your goals. Anything from a slow-paced walk to fast run is possible, so you can be sure you get the workout you need to boost your metabolism so you burn calories while improving tour strength and endurance. They can also save time by allowing you to exercise day or night, whenever you have spare time in your schedule. Best of all are the outstanding results people are getting from their workouts. It’s no wonder that this is the most popular exercise machine sold today.

If you have trouble finding time in your busy day to travel to the gym for a workout, it may be a good idea to take a look at a few compact treadmills for yourself.

If you are ready to lose those extra pounds and finially get in better shape, be sure to check out Compact Treadmill Fitness where you can get the facts about why compact treadmills are the best choice to lose weight and improve your health quickly and easily.

What’s The ProForm 590T Treadmill Rating?

Thursday, September 16th, 2010

I’ll start with two dislikes (personal of course). In a nutshell, the ProForm 590T Treadmill will not accommodate large and demanding runner because of its running deck size and motor.

This treadmill gives you 20 inches wide by 55 inches long for running space. That’s not an unusual amount of space, but you can find longer surfaces … if that is what you need.

An optimal length for a treadmill is 60 inches - especially if you’re taller, have a long gait, and/or like doing lunges on your treadmill. It’s imperative when you’re shopping for a treadmill that you consider your height, gait-length, and whether you will do unique workouts such as lunges on your treadmill so you don’t end up with something too short.

Another criticism (objectively speaking) is the 2.25 horsepower motor - which is relatively low when compared to the many treadmill available which have 3.0 horsepower motors. That said, the ProForm 590T Treadmill is priced pretty well below $1,000 - which will obviously mean some premium features will not be included - horsepower being one of them.

In fact, treadmill ratings help and can be useful - but you must take them with a grain of salt. After all, 2.25 horsepower may be totally adequate for you. In fact, you may like the smaller motor size for a quieter machine.

If you’re a smaller person, you don’t need the power as someone who is 6 foot three inches and weighing 225 pounds. Okay, enough of my criticisms. The ProForm 590T has some really nice features.

First, the monitor is crisp and pleasant to look at because it’s a backlit blue LCD display screen. Second, you get an iFit Live port which you may really like in the long run - more and more treadmills are installing iFit Live technology.

Third, if you’re a reader while working out, you’ll enjoy the wide console and wide magazine reading rack. The best part of the ProForm 590T Treadmill is the price - you can buy this treadmill quite a bit below $1,000 (at the time this review was written - prices can vary).
